Sv Tech uprates those payloads to keep van operators who need to tow inside the law
What would your thoughts be if you were told your vehicle, trailer and everything carried on it and in it were not insured? Scary, isn’t it? But, of all the vehicles stopped and checked by DVSA in 2015-2016, over 80% were found to be overloaded and/ or exceeding the driver’s licence entitlement.
When was the last time you checked your vehicle weights?
If you knew there was an inexpensive option to avoid your overloading problems, would you be interested?
For over 25 years, SvTech has covered GVW rerating on vehicles, from small sub 3.5t vehicles all the way up to 150t Special Types vehicles.
SvTech can uprate the GVW of most 4x4s and in some cases can also increase the towing allowances. e.g. Toyota Hilux, Isuzu D-Max – GVW increase to 3500kg + GTW of 3,500kg (7,000kg combined).
A GVW uprate can increase your payload allowance, thus reducing the size and number of vehicles involved for transporting your goods.

The SvTech Process
SvTech assesses each vehicle individually, as every make and model have different uprate options and requirements.
Behind the scenes of every SvTech uprate, testing of a vehicle is carried out to create a ministryrecognised test report, which is then used to cover subsequent uprates. This report and testing is vital in supporting an uprate, and is a legal requirement.
Do not be fooled into thinking it’s just a paperwork exercise, as is offered by other companies. The firm asks every customer to complete one of its Conversion Forms and send it back along with a copy of the logbook (V5), weight ticket and vehicle details. A member of staff will then discuss your options with you.
The process takes 5-10 days, but the DVSA change of logbook can take considerably longer, so bear this mind if you are travelling overseas in the vehicle.
